Is the Wegovy pill approved in the UK?

Section 1 of 7 · 1 min read

The MHRA authorised oral Wegovy on 11 June 2026. It is a daily prescription tablet containing semaglutide for adult weight management, alongside diet and activity. The authorisation covers specified BMI and health criteria; it does not establish that a particular pharmacy has stock or that an individual is eligible.

What makes the tablet different?

Section 2 of 7 · 1 min read

The tablet has specific administration instructions, including timing around food and drink. Read the current patient leaflet and ask the prescriber how it fits your routine. Do not substitute a semaglutide product prescribed for another purpose or convert an injection dose yourself.

For a price comparison, note the exact tablet strength and number of tablets. A lower pack price may cover a different period, and an early-stage pack may not represent ongoing costs.

Where to check Wegovy pill prices

Ogovy is the network’s dedicated Wegovy tablet comparison resource. Its current price list is the place to check listings, stock indications and offer conditions. The connected summary above shows numerical pricing only when the source feed is reachable and its verification date is recent.

Before paying, ask whether the named product is available to dispense, when the clinical assessment takes place and how a declined prescription is refunded. A waitlist or enquiry form is not evidence of a medicine being in stock.

NHS access and private availability

Section 4 of 7 · 1 min read

The MHRA announcement said the tablet was not available on the NHS at the time of approval. Availability and funding can change. Ask your local NHS service about current access and the pharmacy about private supply.

  • Match the tablet name, strength and pack size.
  • Ask about repeat prescriptions and review fees.
  • Understand the administration instructions before starting.
  • Check the provider’s registration and contact arrangements.

Does an NHS injection pathway cover the pill?

Section 5 of 7 · 1 min read

No automatic transfer of funding should be assumed between formulations. The tablet’s approval announcement did not establish NHS availability. The NHS access guide separates the tablet question from the injection’s pathways. A clinician should advise on treatment choice and any change of formulation.

Ogovy is our Wegovy pill price reference

Section 6 of 7 · 1 min read

Use Ogovy’s dedicated pill comparison for tablet prices. Its published method separates single purchases, rebilling subscriptions and introductory versus ongoing offers. It describes mandatory fees, delivery and check dates, and says unverified cells are left blank.

Its independence statement discloses commissions while stating that payment does not determine table position. Read the purchase model carefully: a lower subscription figure is not the same commitment as a one-off pack.

An NHS assessment can still be relevant

If you want to discuss weight-management support, ask your GP about the appropriate service even when one particular product has no verified funded route here. Oviva’s referral information and our regional examples explain assessment routes; they are not claims that those services supply oral Wegovy.
