Augo
Published price / accessFree recipe, planning and tracking tools
Augo connects recipes with a weekly plan, shopping list and food diary. That combination can be useful when the practical task is turning meal ideas into a shop and then recording what was eaten, with or without weight-loss medication.
What it offers
Recipe ideas linked to meal planning
Shopping lists and pantry records
Food logging with UK product data
Limits & things to check
AI suggestions and photo-based food estimates need checking, especially for portions and allergens.
A planning app does not include the groceries or individual advice from a registered dietitian.
UK fit: The provider describes UK supermarket and food-database coverage. Its free tools are funded by Medstack’s medicine comparison sites; optional human consultations are separate.
Published price / accessFree download with in-app purchases
Cookpad focuses on recipes contributed by its community, with photos and feedback from people cooking them. Its current listing also describes importing recipes and turning a weekly menu into a shopping list, useful for keeping scattered ideas together.
What it offers
Recipes shared by home cooks
Ingredient search and saved collections
Weekly menus and shopping lists
Limits & things to check
Community recipes differ in detail; check timings, portion sizes and ingredients before cooking.
The listing includes paid products, so confirm the limits of the free account and any import or planning features.
UK fit: The UK store listing is available in English. A global recipe community means ingredient names and measures may need adapting to a UK kitchen.
Published price / accessUK iOS subscription listed at £4.49/month or £24.99/year
Good Food combines editorial recipes with cooking tutorials and meal-planning tools. The app is useful to compare when someone wants both everyday dinner ideas and explanations of techniques, rather than only somewhere to store recipes found elsewhere.
What it offers
Recipe library and meal plans
Shopping lists
Cooking videos and screen-awake Cook Mode
Limits & things to check
App access is subscription-based; free installation does not mean the recipe library is free.
Introductory offers renew at the stated subscription rate. Check whether an existing magazine or digital package includes app access.
UK fit: The UK listing provides the GBP prices. Good Food and BBC Food are distinct services; a BBC Food recipe does not imply a Good Food subscription is required.
Published price / accessFree recipes; optional Plus subscription, UK checkout price varies
Kitchen Stories puts visual cooking instructions at the centre of its recipe library. Its free material can help with technique, while Plus adds tools such as ingredient-based search and importing recipes from other websites into a personal collection.
What it offers
Step-by-step photos and cooking videos
Personal recipe collections
Serving and measurement adjustments
Limits & things to check
The provider’s import guide says external recipe importing is currently iOS-only.
Plus tools require a trial or subscription. The public price page uses euros, so it is not a verified UK GBP quote.
UK fit: Measurement adjustments can help UK cooks using recipes from different countries; imported recipes still need their quantities and instructions checked.
Published price / access£4.99 for the UK iOS app; other platforms sold separately
Paprika is a recipe organiser for building a personal collection. It brings imported recipes into meal plans and shopping lists, with local access and cooking aids such as timers, highlighted steps and ingredient scaling.
What it offers
Import recipes from websites
Meal calendars and combined shopping lists
Portion scaling and metric conversions
Limits & things to check
Buying the iOS version does not buy the Android, Mac or Windows version.
Importing saves recipe information; it does not independently check the original recipe’s nutrition, allergy advice or cooking accuracy.
UK fit: The £4.99 figure applies specifically to the checked UK iPhone/iPad listing. Metric conversion and custom shopping aisles are relevant to using international recipes in UK shops.
Published price / accessFree download; UK iOS Pro upgrade listed at £19.99
Recipe Keeper by Tudorspan concentrates on preserving recipes people already own. Camera scanning, website imports and PDF cookbooks can bring handwritten family instructions and online recipes into one searchable collection, with planning tools built around it.
What it offers
Scan printed or handwritten recipes
Import recipes and organise a collection
Meal plans, shopping lists and PDF cookbooks
Limits & things to check
Other platforms require separate purchases; the iOS Pro price is not a household-wide licence for every device type.
Scanned text can contain errors. Check ingredient amounts and instructions against the original before relying on them.
UK fit: Use Tudorspan Limited’s UK listing to avoid similarly named apps. The published features include metric conversion and adjustable recipe text size.
Published price / accessFree planning tools; optional Food+ subscription
Samsung Food links recipe saving with planning and a grocery list. The free planner can support a household routine, while Food+ adds personalised plans and additional nutrition or pantry tools; those additions should be judged against the tasks actually needed.
What it offers
Save recipes from websites
Shared meal plans and shopping lists
Optional paid personalised plans and nutrition tools
Limits & things to check
Some Food+ features are mobile-only, so web access does not mean complete feature parity.
A seven-day trial converts to a paid plan unless cancelled; international dollar prices are not UK quotes.
UK fit: A UK App Store listing is available. Selected UK Samsung appliance buyers may qualify for an extended trial, but eligibility and proof of purchase are required.
Published price / accessFree core app; UK iOS Premium listed at £4.99/month or £48.99/year
SideChef combines guided cooking with recipe discovery and planning. Filters can narrow ideas by ingredients, preferences or time, while a saved recipe collection keeps useful instructions close to the shopping list.
What it offers
Step-by-step recipes
Filters for ingredients and dietary preferences
Meal planning and grocery lists
Limits & things to check
The official FAQ says sharing meal plans and shopping lists is not currently supported.
Premium subscriptions renew automatically. Grocery-ordering integrations need a separate UK availability check rather than assuming every advertised retailer works locally.
UK fit: The UK purchase list supplies the GBP Premium prices; the same description also contains US dollar examples, which are not used here.
Published price / access£6/month or £60/year for new UK subscribers
Sidekick by Sorted Food builds meal planning around recipes that share ingredients. Its household and portion tools can help coordinate a weekly shop, particularly when avoiding unused ingredients matters as much as finding another dinner idea.
What it offers
Recipe packs sharing ingredients
Weekly menus and household shopping lists
Audio guidance, timers and offline recipes
Limits & things to check
The trial is temporary and the subscription renews; the annual plan means paying for the year upfront.
A recipe pack does not guarantee a lower food bill. Pantry supplies, local prices and whether the planned meals are cooked affect the outcome.
UK fit: Official UK pricing is £6 monthly or £60 annually for new subscribers. Older prices in store purchase lists should not be assumed available to everyone.
Published price / accessFree download; Tasty+ listed at £3.99/month or £34.99/year on UK iOS
Tasty focuses on visual recipe discovery and step-by-step cooking. Saved collections and ingredient searches can help turn an interesting video into a repeatable meal, while metric measurements make the internationally oriented library easier to use in a UK kitchen.
What it offers
Video recipes and guided cooking mode
Saved recipe collections
Adjustable servings with metric measurements
Limits & things to check
Its advertised Walmart shopping connection is not a UK supermarket checkout service.
Community tips and AI suggestions are ideas to check, not a guarantee that a recipe suits an allergy or clinical diet.
UK fit: The UK store lists optional Tasty+ purchases and an iOS 18 minimum. Check which features the current free version includes before subscribing.

A MORE USEFUL SHORTLIST
Choose for the job you need done.
A recipe library is not the same as a meal planner
A library helps you find something to cook. An organiser saves recipes you already like. A planner connects several meals with a shopping list and, sometimes, ingredient reuse. Decide which step wastes your time before paying for a larger collection. Check whether you can add your own meals and edit quantities without losing the shopping-list link.
Make the UK supermarket check
Test three meals using ingredients you can buy locally. Check grams versus cups, Celsius versus Fahrenheit, portion sizes and names for common ingredients. A recipe’s stated price may use a different country, supermarket or date. Build your own basket using whole packs, then account for leftovers and ingredients already in the cupboard.
Budget per serving and cash at the till differ
A recipe may use a spoonful from several packets, making its calculated serving cost look small. The first shop still requires the packets. A useful weekly plan reuses ingredients across meals, leaves room for existing food and handles changes in your schedule. Look for editable shopping lists rather than assuming a low recipe cost guarantees a low grocery bill.
Diet filters need a final ingredient check
A dietary tag, a recipe import or an AI suggestion is a starting point. Check ingredients, product labels and substitutions yourself, particularly where allergies or a prescribed diet are involved. Consider whether nutrition figures are calculated from the exact quantities you use and whether serving adjustments update them. Do not assume an attractive recipe photograph verifies those details.
How this comparison was prepared
Med Easy checked official product information and UK app-store listings on 26 October 2026. The ten entries are a selected set, not a complete market list. We have not scored the apps, tested every feature, verified comparative results or claimed a registered-clinician review. UK focus means we checked for relevant UK access or information; it does not mean every app was built in Britain.
Where a reliable comparable UK price was unavailable, we say to check the current checkout instead of converting a US price or inventing a billing period. Promotions, account eligibility, store and subscription tier can change the charge. Practical caveats are our interpretation of the published offer, not a survey of complaints.
Inclusion and relationships: Augo appears in every category because its published tools overlap these uses. Its website identifies Medstack as its operator and funder, alongside Monj, iGovy, Ogovy and Dayo, the medicine comparison sites Med Easy links to. Inclusion is not an independent award. Read Augo’s ownership statement and Med Easy’s relationship disclosure.
Before sharing health information, read the app’s privacy terms: what is stored, what reaches AI or analytics services, what appears publicly and how export or deletion works. A convenient tool still deserves a deliberate data-sharing choice.
Questions before you choose
Are all the recipe apps built in the UK?
No. This guide focuses on usefulness and availability for UK users. The UK note on each entry highlights relevant units, ingredients or service limitations.
Do these apps include the cost of groceries?
No. App charges and grocery spending are separate. Recipe cost estimates may omit the initial cost of full packets or use prices from another market.
