One brand does not mean one price or interchangeable doses

Section 1 of 5 · 1 min read

The MHRA authorised Wegovy tablets on 11 June 2026. The tablet and injection contain semaglutide but use different formulations and dosing schedules. Their strengths should not be compared milligram for milligram, and a price difference is not a reason to switch without a prescribing review.

Keep the formulation in every note you make: “Wegovy injection” or “Wegovy tablet”, followed by the prescribed strength and quantity. A search result showing only the brand and a low amount can omit the detail that makes the offer relevant. This guide compares costs and access questions; it does not claim that one formulation is a better treatment.

Compare the two source tables separately

Section 2 of 5 · 1 min read

iGovy supplies the injection listings; Ogovy supplies the tablet listings. The tables separate introductory and returning-customer amounts. Check the linked offer for the precise pack, customer conditions and final fee total. A product’s authorisation is not confirmation of stock at every pharmacy.

Med Easy displays selected providers from the four source feeds. For the same medicine, dose and customer type, we choose the lowest published price; equal prices use provider names in reverse alphabetical order (Z–A). It may differ from the source’s overall cheapest listing. No whole-market or clinical recommendation is implied. The supply period, pack size and additional fees need confirmation. Different medicines and strengths are not equivalent treatments.

Compare days supplied, not the number of objects in the box

Section 3 of 5 · 1 min read

Counting a pen against a tablet is not a cost comparison. Ask the pharmacy how many prescribed days the quoted pack covers, without changing the instructions for use. Then compare the total paid across the same period. If the listed supply length is unclear, ask for it before calculating a daily or monthly amount.

The arithmetic can be simple once the details are confirmed. An illustrative £140 supply covering 28 days is £5 per supplied day, while an illustrative £150 supply covering 30 days is also £5 per supplied day. Neither figure is a live quote and neither implies clinical equivalence. Over a fixed budget window, whole-pack ordering can still produce different cash totals or unused supplied days. The cost planner makes those assumptions explicit.

Check whether the practical routine fits your circumstances

Section 4 of 5 · 1 min read

A tablet may remove an injection step, but it still has administration instructions. The MHRA’s authorisation notice describes fasting and waiting requirements for the tablet. Ask the prescriber or pharmacist to explain the current patient leaflet and any implications for other medicines you take. Do not trade away correct use in pursuit of a lower price or a simpler-looking routine.

For either formulation, ask about delivery arrangements, storage instructions and who to contact if a delivery or product appears unsuitable. Record whether the price includes required supplies and follow-up. These are questions about the service you are buying; they are not evidence that tablets or injections are inherently better value for an individual.

Treat a switch as a new care decision, not a checkout choice

Section 5 of 5 · 1 min read

If you are already being treated, tell the reviewing prescriber the current product, strength, timing and relevant treatment history. Ask what records are needed, who confirms the new instructions and what happens to a pending order. Do not overlap or alter treatment based on the cheapest row in a table.

Ask for any transfer or assessment fee before comparing the first payment at a new service. Then record the repeat price without an introductory code and the date of the next review. For NHS care, follow the Wegovy NHS access guide: authorisation and funding are separate questions. For a wider comparison of formats, read tablets versus injections; for current amounts, return to the formulation-specific source links above.

Your questions, answered

Are Wegovy tablets automatically cheaper than injections?

No. Prices depend on strength, quantity, customer category and care package. Compare current iGovy and Ogovy offers for the products a prescriber has assessed.

Answer link

Does UK approval mean the NHS supplies the tablets everywhere?

No. Regulatory authorisation, NHS funding, local access and individual suitability are separate questions. Check the relevant NHS pathway.

Answer link

Can I switch formulation using a price comparison?

A comparison cannot provide switching instructions. Your prescriber must review the treatment plan and explain the correct product, timing and dose.
